12-12-12

Smitten with numbers? Take a look at this article on the popular wedding date this year 12-12-12. As we all know last years date of 11-11-11 brought just as much fame to the numbers game with weddings.

I know your wedding date is important, but to be married on any day with 3 matching numbers, I must admit that's pretty cool! And how could your soon to be hubby ever forget your anniversary? Us ladies are tricky like that, don't deny it girls! But in all honesty congrats to you ladies that will be wed on such a historical day. I must say I am a little jealous...but the stars (or date) will line up for each and everyone of us just like it has you. But this is the wedding date of a century (literally)!! There are no more repetitive wedding dates (or any date for that matter) past this year for a lonnnnng time to come!

Famous Last Kiss!

I came upon a wedding photo on Pinterest today that reminded me of a famous photo. We've all seen it and I don't think it ever gets old. "The Kiss"it's the cutest picture of a nurse (Edith Shaine) and a still unknown sailor.

So it gave me the great idea for wedding photos! Every girl wants her photos to be memorable. You want some fun and uniqueness in-between all the ho-hum wedding party photos. Pick a famous couple, a famous picture, and imitate it! If it's an older photo, match the print color (black and white, antique, etc) to emulate the classic photo.

Upcoming Wedding Season

Hey ladies! It's that time of the year again...lovey couples will be getting engaged over the Holiday season! Whether you're currently engaged or hope to be one of the lucky girls who will be soon...here are some facts about the whimsical wedding season coming soon.

  • Having a Spring/Summer wedding? Start planning NOW if you haven't already. Most weddings need at least 1 year of planning.
  • Bridal gowns take at least 5-6 months to ship from the designer AFTER you have chosen your dress and have been sized/measured. Keep in mind this does not include alteration time. Reference my tips for dress shopping post for more info!
  • Don't forget your bridesmaids! They also take some time for shipping and alts. Bridesmaids orders are typically  3-3 1/2 months to ship from the designer. Reference my tips for dress shopping post for more info!
  • Most venues have to be booked out 1 year in advance, yes 1 year! There may be cancellations, if your venue is booked, so check in with the venue periodically.
  • Looking for a sale? Most designers have 2 new lines they roll out every year. What that means for you is local bridal shops may have sample sales. They need to get the samples from the previous season out the door before the new line comes in. Discounts can sometimes be dramatic and you may be able to negotiate a price. Call your local bridal shop for information.
  • Trunk shows are another great way to score some savings in your hefty budget. Designers will schedule exclusive shows with local bridal shops. That week/weekend a representative or the designer herself/himself will be there to showcase their line. Many times they will offer discounts between 10-20% if you order that day!
  • Don't forget your accessories! If you're thinking about a veil/headpiece/jewelry etc don't put them off too long. Many accessories are hand-made by the designer so they take some time. Plan for 6-8 weeks for most accessories.

Ice Princess

*January Inspiration*

Many couples wish to be whisked away to a tropical paradise for their "winter" wedding. Why not try something you've probably never thought of? Every year towards the end of December through the first part of April, magnificent ice hotels exist.  These beautiful works of art are built from scratch each year. Many of the ice hotels offer wedding packages as well! With a quaint little chapel and a warm snuggly fireplace in your room, this will be the ultimate way to spend your wedding, close and personal. Not only will you and your guests get a one of a kind experience, but not many couples can say they were married in an ice hotel. What better way to spend your milestone anniversaries here as well! You can have the perfect Snow White wedding. With a horse drawn carriage to deliver you and your sweetie to the doors of glittering ice. Instead of the usual desert bar, warm your guests with a hot chocolate bar instead! Not only will it be nostalgic, but your guests will appreciate a little warmth. Donut holes are the perfect bite size snack for the after dinner "desert" to go along with the hot chocolate. Make sure to wear your most comfy, cozy winter boots under that dress! Of course throw out the old saying of "pack light", you and your sweetie will need more than the typical carry on clothes. But don't fret the cold, most guests only stay one or two nights for the experience, then move to a regular hotel for the rest of their trip. So deviate from the path of wedding tradition and get lost in an amazing experience! Pin It

*NYE*

If you're wanting to plan a New Years Eve wedding, in most cases you have to plan even farther ahead for this specific date. Most venues are booked out at least two years, compared to the typical year. A NYE wedding is a unique event. Guests are already in high spirits for the new year celebration. And they can all be together in one place not only to celebrate a new year, but to also celebrate the joining of two people in love. Everyone enjoys a good party, for the midnight toast let your guests wear silly "New Years" hats. The always obnoxious, but addicting noismakers are a great nostalgic treat. The champagne toast can have a dual purpose to toasting for both your marriage and the new year. Focus on the three main colors of black, gold and silver in your overall theme. The more glitz and glitter the better! You know you've already got a pair of the sparkly heels every girl loves, go ahead and wear them for a NYE wedding! Last but not least make sure you get the perfect movie ending kiss under the midnight fireworks. Make sure your photographer captures the moment as well :)

Fall In Love With Me

You could argue that Fall and Summer weddings have a lot of competition with one another. Both are filled with brilliant colors that take your breath away. Fall is all about deep reds, oranges, gold, and every shade of brown. When combined together, they create a palette rich in color.

Having an outdoor-ish wedding will allow you to encompass all of the brilliant colors of fall. Since it will be colder in the evening, your guests can take shelter in a rustic barn. Dressed up with cream linens, it creates a comfort of home. Keep the tones muted and neutral in the wedding attire. Men will look stunning in chocolate tuxes with accents of gold in their ties and vests. Your girls, no matter the skin tone, will glow in brown dresses. No spray tans needed! Strategically place pops of crimson red in your bouquet and in the centerpieces. Too many rich and bright colors can take over the beautiful foliage you have at your disposal. Serve guests pumpkin pie and warm apple cider, the two best treats of fall! Vintage jewelry can easily be worn in a setting like this, maybe use this as your something borrowed? :)

Most of all don't forget to indulge, a little, in the comfort foods of fall. Just don't get too carried away...you still have a wedding dress to fit into haha ;) Pin It
